Parvesh Verma, an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was born on November 7, 1977. He is currently a member of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, representing the New Delhi Assembly Constituency. He also served as a Member of Parliament (MP) for West Delhi in the Lok Sabha.
Verma served two terms as an MP from 2014 until 2024, totaling ten years in office. After being elected to the 16th Lok Sabha in 2014, he was re-elected to the 17th Lok Sabha in 2019 with the largest victory margin in Delhi’s history, 578,486 votes. He won the Delhi Assembly election from New Delhi in 2025 after defeating former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Political Career.
In the 2013 Delhi Assembly elections, Verma defeated then-Delhi Assembly Speaker Yoganand Shastri after running from the Mehrauli Assembly Constituency. He is the son of Sahib Singh Verma, the previous chief minister of Delhi.
Member of Parliament (MP).
In the 2014 Indian General Elections, Verma secured the West Delhi Lok Sabha seat with a record majority of 268,586 votes. He won a second term in 2019 after defeating Congress opponent Mahabal Mishra by an even larger margin of 578,486 votes, compared to Mishra’s 287,162 votes. His 2019 victory set a new record for the widest margin in Delhi’s history and was the sixth largest in India.
In the 2019 general elections, Verma received the most votes of any Lok Sabha candidate in Delhi’s history, 865,648 out of 1,441,601 cast in West Delhi.
Among other significant committees, he served on the Joint Committee on Salaries and Allowances of Members of Parliament and the Standing Committee on Urban Development. He was also a member of the New Delhi-based Governing Body of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). At the moment, he is a member of the Estimates Committee and the Parliamentary Finance Committee.

In the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, Verma defeated Arvind Kejriwal, a former Chief Minister and MLA who ran from New Delhi.
Personal Life.
Verma is married to Swati Verma, the daughter of former Union Minister and BJP leader Vikram Verma of Madhya Pradesh. Two daughters and a son make up their three children. Shiven Verma is their son, Trisha Verma is their daughter, and Sanidhi Verma is their eldest daughter. He also serves as the manager of an NGO called “Rashtriya Swabhiman”.
Controversies.
During the 2020 Delhi Assembly election campaign, Verma made controversial remarks about the Shaheen Bagh protests, saying that if the BJP took over Delhi, the protest site would be demolished in an hour.

parvesh verma further charged that the protesters, who were Muslims in particular, had attacked women and broken into Hindu homes.
In 2022, shortly before the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, he arranged a meeting between Home Minister Amit Shah and Jat leaders from Western Uttar Pradesh. After the elections, he then made a controversial statement suggesting a partnership with Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) leader Jayant Chaudhary.
At a Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) rally, Verma also called for a complete boycott of Muslims.
