Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao co-wrote and directed the 2016 romantic drama film Sanam Teri Kasam, which means “I Swear by You, My Beloved.” Anurag Sinha, Manish Choudhary, Murli Sharma, Sudesh Berry, Harshvardhan Rane, and Mawra Hocane all make their Hindi film debuts in this Deepak Mukut-produced picture. The film is a modern adaptation of the Shiva-Sati mythology and Eric Segal’s Love Story.
Saru, a conventional librarian, and Inder, a tough ex-convict, are the story’s main characters. They marry after falling in love, but a horrible series of events permanently alters their life. Himesh Reshammiya wrote the soundtrack, while Chirantan Das handled the photography. Shabbir Ahmed, Sameer Anjaan, Reshammiya, and Subrat Sinha wrote the lyrics. On February 5, 2016, Sanam Teri Kasam, distributed by Eros International, became available to all countries. Critics gave it mixed to favorable reviews, and it made roughly ₹16 crore, or $1.8 million.

At the start of the film, a large crowd congratulates lawyer Inder Lal Parihar on winning a case. He has a drink after arriving home and walks toward a tree, which sets off a memory.
Sarawati “Saru” Parthasarathy, a traditional Telugu librarian, is often rejected by suitors who believe she is out of date. Her younger sister Kaveri is unable to marry until Saru finds a partner. Under pressure, Saru promises to locate a husband as soon as possible.
A notoriously tough ex-offender moves into the same building as Inder Lal Parihar in the interim. Lily, the property’s original owner, has passed it on to him. After falling in love with Ruby Malhotra, Saru’s girlfriend, Inder ends their relationship. As the neighbors go for medical assistance, a security guard cautions them that they may be in a love relationship. After Saru’s father, Jayaram, finds her in Inder’s bed and misunderstands the circumstances, she is later disowned. When Saru shares her sadness with her mother, she is ordered to keep silent for Kaveri’s wedding.
Inder helps Saru find a new home and gives her a makeover in an effort to attract Abhimanyu’s attention. Inder does not reply to Abhimanyu’s suggestion. When Abhimanyu withdraws on their wedding day due to familial pressure, Saru is upset. That night, she spends time with Inder.

The next morning, Inder feels duped and retreats when he finds Saru with Abhimanyu. Later, he learns.At the hospital, Inder is saddened to learn that she has a brain tumor called meningioma, which is fatal. He is arrested after confronting her parents. Saru finds out about Inder’s love through texts he left at the library after being freed. When they reconcile, Saru proposes marriage.
Later that night, Saru tells Inder that she wants to die and be buried next to a tree with beautiful flowers. Jayaram makes a vow to marry Saru and even risk his life for her when Inder first meets him. On the day of their wedding, Saru’s parents arrive and give their blessing.
Following their marriage, Saru faints and is taken to the hospital. When Jayaram’s parents first learn of her illness, she feels horrible. Inder queries While seeing Saru in the hospital, Inder reveals that he was brought up as his grandma Lily’s son. She had killed his uncle in self-defense when he tried to attack her. To protect Lily, Inder took responsibility for the crime. Saru encourages Inder to make amends with his father.
When Saru dies in his arms, Inder is distraught. Because of Saru’s remarks, Inder subsequently finds Rajinder at the hospital and makes amends with him.

Eros International released the movie, which directors Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao had announced in 2015. Inder, a lawyer who is both tortured and lustful, was portrayed by Harshvardhan Rane. He described his role as a “dream come true” and claimed that Salman Khan and his own father served as inspiration for his performance. He stated, “I modeled my character in Sanam Teri Kasam after my father, who is tough on the outside but warm-hearted inside.”
The peaceful South Indian librarian Saru was represented by Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane. According to her, “I chose Sanam Teri Kasam because it gave me a chance to act beyond just looking glamorous.” She was appreciative of the chance.
Manish Choudhary, Pyumori Mehta Ghosh, and Divyetta Singh played Saru’s relatives. Sudesh Berry portrayed Inder’s father, and Murli Sharma portrayed an inspector.

Filming.
Delhi, Mumbai, and Cape Town served as the primary filming locations. The Central Library in Cape Town was one of the main locations for the shooting.
For the song Tera Chehra, Mawra Hocane had to spend twenty-one hours in a bathtub. In another scene, Harshvardhan Rane suffered injuries.
Music
For Sanam Teri Kasam, Sameer Anjaan, Shabbir Ahmed, and Subrat Sinha wrote the lyrics, while Himesh Reshammiya composed the music. The title single was released on December 22, 2015, and the whole album was released on January 7, 2016. The song Haal-e-Dil, which was originally composed for Tere Naam, was eventually included on this soundtrack. The album received positive reviews from critics.

The film’s first look was unveiled on December 7, 2015, prior to its initial January 8, 2016 release date being rescheduled to February 5, 2016. It was also screened at the Bollywood Film Festival in Moscow in December 2016. Later, Sanam Teri Kasam 2 became available on Jio Cinema and Amazon Prime Video.
